Please be aware that several candidates on the 2022 primary ballot have listed no information on their candidacy, some do not appear to have filed (as required by law) with FEC or PDC to show their campaign finances. The LWV encourages and supports transparency in all aspects of our democracy and finds this trend greatly troubling.

Our Primary Voter’s Guide contains all propositions on a primary ballot in Kittitas County, but only registered voters within the sponsoring districts or municipalities will be asked to vote on the issue.

2022 PRIMARY BALLOT

City of Roslyn Public Safety Levy

The City Council of the City of Roslyn adopted Resolution No.22-009, concerning sustainable funding for public safety.

This proposition would help fund public safety services for residents. It authorizes a maximum regular property tax rate for collection in 2023 of $1.93 per $1,000 assessed valuation (an approximately $0.70 per $1,000 increase). The 2022 levy amount will be used to compute the limitations for subsequent levies under chapter 84.55 RCW. Exemptions from taxes may be available to certain homeowners (i.e., low-income seniors, disabled veterans, and others with disabilities) who will be exempt from the levy increase under RCW 84.36.381.

Kittitas County Fire District #7 Levy Lid Lift

The Board of Kittitas County Fire Protection District No. 7 adopted Resolution No. 2022-8 concerning a proposition to increase its regular property tax levy.

This proposition authorizes the District to establish its regular property tax levy at $1.25 per $1,000 of assessed collected in 2023. The funds will maintain and improve fire protection, and emergency medical services, replace apparatus and equipment, and provide for firefighter safety. The dollar amount of the 2022 levy collected in 2023 shall serve as the base for computing subsequent levy limitations as provided by chapter 84.55 RCW.

Kittitas County Fire District #6 Property Tax Levy

The Board of Kittitas County Fire Protection District No. 6 Adopted Resolution No. 2022-01 concerning a proposition to maintain and adequately fund District operations.

This proposition authorizes the District to increase its regular property tax levy to $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed value to be assessed in 2022 and collected in 2023. The funds will maintain and improve fire protection and emergency medial services, replace apparatus, equipment and facilities, and provide for firefighter safety. The maximum allowable levy in 2022 shall serve as the base for subsequent levy limitations as provided by chapter 84.55 RCW.

Kittitas County Valley Fire Rescue Levy Lid Lift

The Board of Kittitas Valley Fire Rescue adopted Resolution No.22- 11 concerning a proposition to restore its regular property tax levy.

This proposition authorizes the District to restore its regular property tax levy to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value to be assessed in 2022 and collected in 2023. The funds will maintain and improve fire protection, and emergency medical services, replace apparatus and equipment, and provide for firefighter safety. The dollar amount of the 2022 levy collected in 2023 shall serve as the base for computing subsequent levy limitations as provided by chapter 84.55 RCW.
