There were six school districts asking for levy approval in the February 8th special election. The levy requests of Damman, Easton, Thorp, Cle Elum/Roslyn, Ellensburg, and Kittitas all appear to be passing.
Overall turnout, however, is barely at 33%. That means one third of the voters made decisions for the two thirds who chose not to vote. Tiny Damman school district seems to have the most civic-minded residents, with nearly 45% of them voting.
In the comparable February 2019 special election featuring school levies, turnout was at 35.68%. A few ballots may remain to be counted so this year’s turnout numbers could still improve. The election will be certified this Friday, February 18th.
