Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW) is a nonpartisan movement hosted by the American Association of People with Disabilities and REV UP. There are over 38 million people with disabilities who are eligible to vote, but access barriers keep many disabled voters from accessing their right to vote. DVRW is all about protecting the rights of people with disabilities to participate fully in our democracy.
On September 17, League, in partnership with the Ellensburg Public Library, is hosting a National Voter Registration Day at Hal Holmes Community Center (10 am to 2 pm). The event will feature a demonstration of the County’s Accessible Voting Unit which assists and allows disabled voters to vote in complete privacy. Kittitas County Auditor, Bryan Elliott, along with representatives of Central Washington Disability Resources will be on hand to help register voters! The event is free and open to the public. Contact League for more information.
