From LWVWA 3/8/26 Legislative Newsletter:
This week, with only 4 days remaining, all legislative work will be devoted to reconciliation of bills that passed both chambers but in different forms, policy bills necessary to implement the budget, and the final Operating, Capital and Transportation budgets. During this final House-Senate negotiation period through sine die (the end of session) on Thursday, March 12, activity will be intense. There are still actions we ask Readers to take to emphasize budget hopes. Thank you for your continued support.
PRIORITY ACTIONS FOR THIS WEEK
Please Ask Your Representatives to pass SB 6346, the Millionaire’s Tax – SB 6346, establishing the Millionaires’ Tax, is a very controversial bill. However, it is a high priority for the League of Women Voters because not only does the potential of new revenue affect many other decisions, but also because this tax would create much greater equity in the state’s very regressive tax structure. The bill has passed in the Senate and has passed the House Finance Committee. It is on its way to the floor for a vote of all the members.
Contact your representatives HERE to urge them to vote for SB 6346, the Millionaire’s Tax, when it gets to the House floor.
Establishing the Washington Electric Transmission Authority. SSB 6355 This bill would find the best ways to increase transmission from the new and clean-energy generation sources we will need.
