Click Restraint

Join our online discussion group on navigating digital information – scroll down for registration link leading to the session on Zoom, Thursday, Apr. 15, 3:00 pm.

This discussion group will explore topics including how to fact-check information, how to evaluate sources, and how to distinguish fact from opinion, and is moderated by Katherine Murphy.

Centered on the Crash Course YouTube series, Navigating Digital Information, here is what we will learn in Episode 9, Click Restraint:

“The architecture of the social internet itself tells us not to be patient – to load more tweets, to hit refresh for new posts, and to click the top search results. But just because information is new, or algorithmically determined to be most relevant to you, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best or most accurate. So today we’re going to teach you some tips to exercise a little more click restraint on the Internet.”
