Thorp Social Sciences teacher, Alex Ahlgren will be leading a community discussion on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) using a case approach. Mr. Ahlgren was selected to attend the Harvard Business School’s (HBS) professional development seminar for teaching high school civics using the HBS renowned case approach which stresses analytical and strategic thinking. The data gathered to date indicates that this approach is exceptionally successful in engaging high school students. This case will explore those pivotal points during the efforts to pass the ERA and analyze what history has taught us about the ERA’s past, present, and future.
