We invite you to watch “The Story of Plastic”, an Emmy award-winning documentary, and then attend a Zoom with three local panelists at 7pm on May 13, 2024, about how plastic affects our lives here in Kittitas County and what we can do to stem the tide of this plastic waste. 

“The Story of Plastic” follows the life of plastics from the fracking fields of America to Louisiana’s Cancer Alley, to the landfills and rivers in Asia. It exposes Big Oil’s advertising tactics and plans for massive expansion. Click on the link below to see the trailer for the film:

Our panel consists of: 

Jeff Bousson: Central Washington University’s first-ever Sustainability Officer, Jeff is responsible for leading the development and implementation of CWU’s Climate Change Action Plan and building new sustainability initiatives across campus.

Dr. Clay Arango: Director, Environmental Studies Program, Professor, Dept. of Biological Sciences / Environmental Studies, Central Washington University; Specialty: Stream Ecology, Human-Ecosystem Interactions 

Doug Laurent: Coordinator of Household and Hazardous Waste for Kittitas County Solid Waste
