We have primary voting opportunities coming in July for August primary! It has never been more important that everyone who is eligible gets registered and votes. Historically, there has been complacency among some voters unless it’s a general election, meaning some people ignore primaries and choose to wait for the general election instead. Some don’t bother unless it’s an election for the President or State Governor. Some don’t bother because they “don’t like any of the candidates.” That complacency is no longer acceptable. To have the will of the people heard, it is vital that all of us vote in every election and on every issue presented! This is especially important as there is a concerted effort happening right now to restrict voting access across America. Use your voting right!

The right to vote is fundamental. Sadly, it took until 1920 for women to have the right, and 1965 to eliminate racial discrimination in voting practices. It’s hard to fathom that, isn’t it? We are citizens and people, and our race or gender should NOT be a factor. Especially in 2026!
Voting is a foundation of our Democracy. The League of Women Voters vision statement reads: We envision a democracy where every person has the desire, the right, the knowledge, and the confidence to participate. Our mission statement reads: Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy. We work constantly to register eligible voters, educate them on issues and encourage voting.
The League of Women Voters of Kittitas County and the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting candidate forums in July. These forums give you a chance to hear your candidate speak on the issues and their plans for the future. The dates and locations are: July 14 | Roslyn Masonic Lodge and July 17 | Hal Holmes Community Center. Both events run from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. If you would like to pose a question to a primary candidate, you can do so by email to info@kittitasleague.org We will also have a non-partisan Voters Guide posted on our website to help you make your choices soon.
There are a lot of local issues before you, including 4 resolutions (depending on where you live). There are also candidates for local positions such as Prosecuting Attorney, County Coroner. State and Federal legislators are vying for position as well.
Last day to register to vote online or by mail is July 27th. You can register in person at the Auditors Office up until 8pm August 4th. Ballots will be mailed July 14th and MUST be received by August 4th. Why wait?? Register and vote EARLY and use a drop box for your ballot! Use your right to vote!!
