2022 EARLY RETURNS

ROUGHLY 2000 BALLOTS STILL TO BE COUNTED

source = Secretary of State website

A small percentage of 2022 returned ballots (about 260, based on past years) are on hold for missing or mismatched signatures (the most common reason for ballot rejection). They cannot be counted until the issue is fixed. That is partly what the Auditor’s office does during the 3 week election certification process – they try to resolve ballot issues so that your vote counts! If someone you know has been contacted by the election staff in the Auditor’s office…please share this post with them.

So if the County Auditor’s office has reached out to you, please don’t ignore them!

2022

Early returns show 68.13% returned ballots. How does that compare to other even years?

Let’s take a look…

Prior Even-Year Election Comparison

The number of registered voters dropped by around 500, probably related to the lower CWU student numbers. Undoubtedly, mailed ballots are still coming in (military and overseas citizens), and the turnout percentage should hopefully improve. Curing a rejected ballot will help the turnout, so please don’t ignore outreach from the elections team – ensure your vote is counted!
