Half The Ballots Returned

After a sluggish start, ballots have rolled in at nearly 50% return level. This is better than expected and 14 points higher than returns in 2017, the last odd-year election. The final results won’t be certified until November 26th.

2019 Returns Are Ballpark For Kittitas County

While unexpected, the 2019 results are not an outlier. By comparison, recent odd-year elections show similar returns with 2013 = 49%, 2015 = 40%, and 2017 at 36% turnout. Admittedly, the 2019 results seem to reverse a slight trend toward decreasing turnout during these Special District elections.

Increase in Registered Voters

In 2013, 21,900 ballots were mailed to Kittitas County Residents. This year, over 26,700 were issued. That’s nearly 5,000 more registered voters in our county over the last 6 years. While the exact totals are still to come, at least 50 local citizens took advantage of same-day voter registration to register and vote on November 5.
