SB 5601 – Requires state licensure for healthcare ‘benefit managers’ employed by insurance carriers

SB 5601 Concerning of licensing of Health Care Benefit Managers. Prime sponsor: Sen. Rolfes and 10 co-sponsors, including Senator Warnick. ‘Benefit Managers’ are employed by Insurance carriers to review and then authorize or deny authorization for medical care or prescriptions. This bill would require State licensure for these Insurance company employees.
SB 6087 – Caps out-of-pocket expense for 30-day supply of insulin

SB 6087 Health plans issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2021 must cap out-of-pocket expenses for a 30-day supply of insulin at $100. Prime sponsor: Sen. Keiser and 12 co-sponsors. This bill was voted ‘Do Pass’ in the Senate Health and Long Term Care committee last week and referred to Senate Ways and Means as a next step.
